Hot cross buns with candied fruit are sweet, spiced buns traditionally served during Easter.

- 2 eggs
- 1 cup mixed candied fruit
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup currants
- For the glaze: 1/4 cup apricot jam
- 1 tablespoon water
Instrukcje
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and yeast.
- In another bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Add candied fruit, raisins, and currants. Knead the dough for 10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a bun and place them on a baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- For the glaze, combine apricot jam and water, then brush over warm buns.
