Traditional Chinese New Year moon cakes filled with sweet lotus seed paste.

- 1/2 cup golden syrup
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 teaspoon alkaline water
- 1 cup lotus seed paste
- 1/4 cup salted egg yolks (optional)
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instrukcje
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix the flour, golden syrup, vegetable oil, and alkaline water in a bowl.
- Knead the dough until smooth and cover it for 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls.
- Flatten each ball and place a spoonful of lotus seed paste in the center.
- If using, add a salted egg yolk on top of the paste.
- Wrap the dough around the filling and shape into a ball.
- Place on a baking sheet and gently press down.
- Brush the tops with water and sprinkle sesame seeds.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
