A classic black forest cake made with layers of chocolate sponge, cherries, and whipped cream.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 jar (24 oz) morello cherries
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instrukcje
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Carefully stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin.
- Pour batter into greased cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes. Check with a toothpick.
- Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, slice each cake in half horizontally.
- Place one layer on a serving plate. Spread with whipped cream and cherries. Repeat layers.
- Top with the final layer and cover the cake with whipped cream.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings and cherries.
